Privacy, simply stated

How We Use Data

Because we don't collect any data, there is nothing for us to use. The on-device information described above is used only by the app, on your device, to run the features you're using (showing your streak, remembering your preferences, and so on).

Data Sharing

We do not share any data with anyone, because we do not collect any data to share. Two things are worth explaining for full transparency:

• The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Easel fetches public-domain painting images and information from the Met's Open Access API (metmuseum.org). These requests ask only for artwork information (for example, "show me object #12345") — never anything about you. Like any internet connection, your device's IP address is visible to the Met's servers as a basic function of how the internet works, the same as it would be visiting any website. We don't control the Met's own systems, and their handling of that connection is governed by their own practices, not ours.
• Apple / the App Store. If you choose to leave an optional tip, that purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store's standard in-app purchase system. We never see your payment details, and we don't receive any purchase history from Apple beyond confirming the purchase completed. Apple's handling of that transaction is governed by Apple's own privacy practices, which apply the same standard of care Apple applies to every App Store purchase.

We do not sell data. We do not share data with data brokers. We do not run or participate in any advertising or tracking network.

Tracking & Advertising

Easel contains no advertising and does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt because we have nothing to ask permission for — there is no tracking happening for it to authorize.

Data Retention & Deletion

Because nothing is stored anywhere but your own device, there is no server-side data to retain or delete. Your on-device data is retained for as long as Easel is installed. Uninstalling Easel deletes all of it immediately and permanently. You can also reset individual preferences at any time from Easel's in-app Settings screen.

Your Rights & Choices

You're always in control:

• Access — everything Easel knows is visible to you already, inside the app itself (your Gallery, your Settings).
• Correction / Deletion — uninstalling the app deletes everything. Turning off a setting in Easel's Settings screen takes effect immediately.
• Consent — since we don't collect data, there's no consent to grant or revoke. Optional features (ambient sound, sound effects, haptics) can be turned off at any time in Settings.
• Questions or requests — contact us any time at [your-email@example.com] and we'll respond promptly. Because we hold no data about you on any server, most requests are already satisfied by the explanation above, but we're glad to confirm that in writing if you'd like.

Children's Privacy

Easel is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone, of any age — consistent with the fact that Easel does not collect data from anyone at all.

International Users

Easel works the same way everywhere: no data leaves your device regardless of your location, so there is no international data transfer to disclose.

Changes to This Policy

If Easel's practices ever change — for example, if we add a feature that does involve collecting or transmitting data — we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date above before that feature ships, so this policy always reflects what the current version of the app actually does.
